Ohio Man Arrested for Car Theft, Shoplifting

An Ohio man is in the Adams County Jail on a variety of charges.

The Illinois State Police received a report of a stolen car in the area of 54th and Broadway in Quincy about 8:30 a.m. Monday. The car was found by a state trooper in the Shottenkirk Toyota parking lot.

When the trooper approached the car, the driver fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

A perimeter was established, and 34 year old Erik Scott Grant of St. Mary’s, Ohio was taken into custody without incident inside Walmart.

Grant was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and shoplifting.

Grant is in custody pending his first court appearance.
