I will admit that I'm not much of a fashionista so colors in my wardrobe aren't very important to me. Perhaps I should give that more thought though as there is real science behind the colors Missouri mosquitos love the most.

It's no secret that Missouri has more mosquitos than any other state in America. Even if that's not 100% accurate, it feels accurate. Those little critters also happen to be the most deadly creature on Earth responsible for more than 750,000 deaths worldwide every single year.

The University of Washington did a lot of research into colors that attract mosquitos and their findings are fascinating. They say if you want to avoid attracting mosquitos to your body, don't wear these 4 colors:

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Cyan
  • Black

Red is my favorite color so I guess I should just prepare my last will and testament now.

What colors should you wear to avoid Missouri mosquitos?

  • Green
  • Purple
  • Blue
  • White

Mosquitos fly towards red, orange, cyan and black, but are repelled by green, purple, blue and white. Who knew? Answer - University of Washington geniuses.

The next 3 months are the height of mosquito activity in Missouri so time to adjust your summer wardrobe colors accordingly apparently.
