Missouri’s Population Suddenly Forecast to Explode by 2040
If a new forecast is accurate, you can expect to see a lot more moving trucks crossing over into Missouri over the next 20 years or so as a population explosion is now being predicted.
There are several takeaways from this new ranking by 24/7 Wall St over the states which can expect the largest growth by the year 2040. It appears that the real leg work was done by researchers at the University of Virginia who did this population study.
They estimate that Missouri's population will grow by nearly 200,000 between now and the year 2040. That's quite a large increase, but compared to other states, it's really not that much. That's why I use the word "explosion" very loosely. Missouri only ranks 37th among states for projected growth. They say if this projected forecast of growth for Missouri works out, the total 2040 population would be 6,359,970 give or take a few.
There is some precedent for what they're saying. Did you know that Missouri's population grew 10% between the year 2000 and 2020? The next 20 years would show a growth percentage of only 3%, so it appears Missouri is trending down in some ways while the state is trending up others. Confused? I know I am.
You can look at some of the population forecasts from the University of Virginia to see where the rest of America ranks when it comes to people relocating.
