Manhunt for Marion County Shooter Called Off

A manhunt for a shooter in the Maywood area in Marion County was called off Tuesday morning after information provided in a 911 call and the evidence at the scene failed to match up.

Sheriff Jimmy Shinn says his office got the call just after 4 a.m. Friday. The caller stated that someone at a mobile home near Highway P had been shot in the thigh. The caller said the shooting took place outside the residence by an unknown subject in the woods behind the residence.

The sheriff department investigation indicates the shooting took place inside the home and that the shot was either self inflicted or came from someone else in the home.

The shooting victim was taken to Blessing Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
