Lage Sentenced to Life in Prison for Monroe County Murder

A Columbia man is sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Monroe County man in 2014.

Judge Jeff Harris Thursday sentenced 36 year old Jason Lage to life in prison for second degree murder and 50 years each for murder and armed criminal action, with the sentences to be served consecutively.

A jury had found Lage guilty in a four day trial in March.

Lage is alleged to have murdered 26 year old Zachary Dawson in his Madison home in the early morning hours of February 19th of 2014.
Under state law, Lage will not be eligible for parole until he serves a total of 36 years on both charges.

A second person charged in the murder, 32 year old Jessica Munoz of Moberly, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and hindering prosecution on May of 2016. She was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
