John Wood Community College Trustees approve a balanced 14.2 million dollar budget for fiscal 2017.

The budget calls for a reduction in spending of 85-thousand dollars and is the smallest budget since 2009. The college reduced operational budgets… restructured administrative positions and left some positions unfilled to help lower spending. Allocations for strategic initiatives focused on enrollment growth were doubled in the spending plan.

Tuition accounts for 55 percent of budgeted revenue. Local property taxes are expected to generate 33 percent of revenue in the budget. The budget anticipates only 811-thousand dollars from the state—or about six percent of expected revenue. This budget projects receiving the remaining six percent of revenue from grants and private support.
