John Wood Community College is one of ten community colleges in Illinois to report increased enrollment.

Numbers reported by the Illinois Community College Board show the state’s 48 community colleges saw an overall 4.2 percent enrollment decrease system wide. JWCC reports increases of nearly one percent in headcount and credit hours. College officials attribute that to strategic initiatives focused on new programs to meet student and community needs.

JWCC reports increased enrollment in career and technical programs by 9 percent by adding an HVAC program,a Certified Medical Assistant program and another entry point into nursing programs. John Wood also introduced three new intercollegiate sports in the last year.
