Interstate 72 Closed Monday Due to HAZMAT Concerns
The westbound lanes of Interstate 72 in Pike County were closed for about an hour Monday evening when a semi-tractor trailer caught fire.

The Illinois State Police reported just after 6 p.m. the fire took place at Milepost 23 east of Barry, with the risk of hazardous materials being released.
The State Police HAZMAT team, IDOT and other agencies responded to contain the fire and deal with the potential hazard.
I-72 westbound was reopened to traffic about 7 p.m. Monday.
