Annual inspection work means closures of the Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana during working hours for 10 days in June.

Detours will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 pm. June 13th to 17th and again from June 20th to 24th.
State engineers say the closings are needed because of ongoing safety concerns and deterioration of the 88-year-old structure. The inspection will focus upon lower segments and the upper truss. Some joints also will be replaced. The bridge will be closed for at least one night during the inspection so crews can perform preliminary engineering for a new span proposed just to the south. A date for the overnight closing will be announced later, and results of the inspection won’t be available for about two weeks.
