Fired Louisiana City Administrator Bob Jenne is going to try to get his job back.

The City Council is holding a hearing at 5:30 p.m. January 29. It will be closed to the public because a personnel issue is involved.

Jenne was dismissed in a 6 to 2 vote by the City Council on January 22.

The action is the first major shakeup in Louisiana city government since the 2012 impeachment of a city council member after allegations that she violated the state’s open meeting laws.

At issue is Jenne’s handling of mandated water plant improvements. Louisiana has an October deadline to begin construction or face stiff fines.

Jenne and Mayor Bart Niedner disagree whether city officials were adequately informed about funding mechanisms to pay for the work.
