23 months after groundbreaking ceremonies the new Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana is open. Traffic began flowing shortly after Saturday evening’s dedication and ribbon cutting ceremonies. Some work on the approach on the east side remains but the bridge is open earlier than planned despite weather problems. Massman Construction President Henry Massman they received a lot of support from the Louisiana community. "When we were with somebody whether it was at a store or a restaurant or when we were interacting with the community, and they heard we were building the bridge you got a smile because everybody is excited about the job but also they were very welcoming to our people that moved here to do the project."

The new bridge is 44 feet wide, more than two times wider than the old Champ Clark Bridge which was completed in 1928.
