In Prospect League baseball, the Hannibal Cavemen sweep a doubleheader with Springfield. The final of game one at Clemens Field was Cavemen  8  Sliders 5.  The Cavemen won the nightcap 5 to 4 .  Harold Smith had the call on KHMOradio.com and files this report…

Hannibal now heads to Springfield to take on the Sliders Sunday night.  They return home Monday for another "Battle of the Paddle" with the Quincy Gems.  You can listen to the webcast here.

Speaking of the Gems, they picked up a win against Champion City.  Quincy Gems 6  Champion City: 3.  The two teams play again Sunday night in Quincy.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Matt Adams homered in a four-run first inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 Saturday to send All-Star Zack Greinke to losses in consecutive regular-season starts for the first time since September 2010.

Joe Kelly (2-1) gave up four hits, struck out four and walked one in his second outing since a three-month stint on the disabled list. Trevor Rosenthal got his 30th save when Andre Either grounded into a game-ending double play.     Coming off a July 9 defeat at Detroit, Greinke (11-6) walked a season-high five and gave up four runs and six hits in 5 2-3 innings.
