The towns of Monroe City and Kahoka are teeming with excitement as their high school football teams compete in state semifinal action.

The undefeated Monroe City Panthers are scheduled to host East Buchanan at 1 p.m.Saturday in Class 1.The winning team will go for the state title next week against the winner of the Valle Catholic vs. Lockwood Golden City matchup.

Meanwhile, in Class 2, the Clark County Indians will host Lafayette County at 2 p.m.Saturday.  The winner will square off against the winner of the other Class 2 semi matchup:  Lamar vs. Lutheran North.

Inclement weather and gusty winds could be a formidable opponent for all four teams.
