The first of five fireworks displays following Quincy Gems baseball games is this Friday night.
Gems Assistant General Manager Deron Johnson says that this will result in some changes in parking changes.  The north parking lot will be closed because that is where they will be shooting the fireworks from.

Gems fans attending Friday’s game and the other fireworks nights at QU Stadium are encouraged to park in the lot at 30th and Locust and ride a shuttle bus to the ballpark. Johnson says they’ll use the Gems bus as the shuttle this year.  “It’s easy parking and they’ll drop you off right at the North Gate” Johnson said.  Street parking will also be available if you don’t mind the possibility of a long walk.

Until recent years, fireworks at Gems games were launched from the football field at QU Stadium, but that is no longer practical with the field turf playing surface on the football field.

Gates will open at 5:30 p-m as usual, but the games on fireworks nights won’t start until 7:05.

Fireworks nights at QU Stadium in 2017 are…
FRI June 30 v Lafayette
SAT Julu 1  v Lafayette
MON July 3 v Danville
SAT July 8 v Terre Haute
SAT July 15 v Springfield
