The rising river and predicted flood crests has cost the Hannibal Hoots its home field.

Hannibal’s Prospect League baseball team announced Tuesday that have evacuated their offices and that they will not be able to open the 2019 season at Clemens Field.

Officials with the Hoots say that the Quincy Gems have offered them the use of QU Stadium for the month of June.

What that means for the opening weekend of the season is that this Friday’s game with Springfield will be played as part of a double header Tuesday, June 12th, and the games with Danville on Saturday and Sunday will be played at their announced start times at QU Stadium in Quincy.

The plan now is for the Hoots to return to Clemens Field Friday, June 28th.
