FBI Says Incident at Lock and Dam 21 Near Quincy Was Not Kidnapping

(QUINCY) - An FBI investigation following the removal of a man from a boat at Lock and Dam 21 near Quincy Friday found that there was no kidnapping in progress. A Coast Guard spokesman says the man taken into custody by the Adams County sheriff’s department has been released.

The incident originated in Minnesota when a relative of the woman taken off the boat contacted the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and claimed the woman had been missing for several days.

The incident Friday resulted in a heavily armed group of sheriff's deputies talking a man off a boat detained inside the lock. A woman on the boat was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
