When you say both names, they both end with a long "E" plus an "S". There are other similarities that have some claiming a Missouri convenience store chain will one day rival the mighty Buc-ee's. To quote and old saying, I believe someone is putting the cart in front of the horse, but let's look closer.

I came across this interesting comparison on Mashed which looks at a rather small Missouri convenience store chain compared to the huge monster brand which is Buc-ee's. The one they're talking about is Wally's in Fenton, Missouri.

They note the following similarities:

  • Curiously mimicked wall of beef jerky
  • Lots of fresh food options
  • Wally's popcorn allegedly looks like Buc-ee's nuggets?
  • Both mascots have fur
  • The bathrooms in both places are spectacular
  • Lots of shopping
  • They're huge

Herein lies the problem with comparing these two brands. There are like a zillion Buc-ee's in Texas (45, but it feels like a zillion) and there are only 2 Wally's (so far).

The article makes mention that Wally's plans to expand beyond their initial Fenton, Missouri location and the other place in Pontiac, Illinois. I have a recommendation for the internet geniuses that want everything to be a fight. Let's wait until there's at least a dozen Wally's before we start pitting them against Buc-ee's. Deal?
