Late Wednesday afternoon, the Adams County States Attorney Office announced that they are filing a one count information against Steven Homan for the offense of Aggravated Battery, a class 3 felony.

According to the press release, the charges are filed from an alleged altercation that happened on April 6 at The Barn in Quincy including the owner Steve Homan, and Quincy University Student Jazzpher Evans. The press release continues to say that after the States Attorney's Office and the Quincy Police Department worked together in the investigation to gather information such as reviewing all available surveillance tapes, reviewing police body camera footage, identifying possible witnesses, and interviewing those witnesses.

We have consulted with the victim and her attorney and look forward to meeting with them and the victim’s family. They are aware of the decision that we are announcing today and understand our legal and evidentiary reasoning.

The released finished by stating,

This charge, as well as the statements herein, are based upon probable cause. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
