Quincy Police were called to that area at 12:20 am this (TH) morning. On arrival they were flagged down by a resident at 1226 Curtis Creek Road who advised his house was on fire. Quincy Firefighters were called and the fire was extinguished.

Police say the resident told them a fire broke out in the basement near the furnace and that he could not find his phone to call 911. An attempt to wake a neighbor was unsuccessful. The resident told police he fired two blanks from a handgun to get someone to call for help. No injuries are reported. The house sustained smoke damage.
