Volunteers Needed to Help Clean-Up in Quincy

City officials in Quincy again updated the media on storm recovery efforts Thursday.

Mayor Kyle Moore reports roll away containers for perishable food will be available until 3 p.m. Friday. They are located at the Quincy Park District, the QU ball field, the Quincy Mall parking lot and John Wood Community College.

Ameren reports they have restored power to over 53,000 customers. The latest numbers indicate 655 customers in Quincy are still without power.

The city is looking for volunteers to help the elderly and disabled remove debris from their property this weekend.

If you can volunteer between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday or Sunday, you’re asked to call 217-214-7788.

You are asked to wear long pants, work gloves and boots, and if you plan to use a chainsaw to please bring eye protection.
