The trial of a Quincy man on homicide charges has been delayed in Adams County Circuit Court.

At a Thursday hearing, Judge Debra Wellborn granted a defense motion to delay the trial of 37 year old Wardell Monroe, Jr. from February to March.

Monroe is accused of delivering heroin in July of 2015 to 20 year old Michael Rupert III, who died two days later after ingesting the heroin.

Monroe had been indicted by an Adams County Grand Jury in October.

Monroe is in the Adams County Jail. He had been in the Illinois Department of Corrections serving a two year term on an unrelated controlled substance conviction.
