Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton says a traffic violation has turned into one of the largest marijuana busts in the county’s history.

Officers noticed the strong odor of marijuana after stopping an eastbound minivan on Highway 36 just west of Hannibal Friday night.  Over 140 pounds of pot was seized.

Officers also found $6,000 in cash, prepaid money cards, and ledgers that may indicate the marijuana’s origin and final destination.  Clayton says at this point, there is no indication the pot was destined for Marion County.

Thirty-eight year-old Julisa Ramirez of Boston, Massachusetts was arrested on felony charges of Trafficking in the 1st Degree. She is lodged in the Marion County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond.  She could face 10 to 30 years up to life imprisonment if convicted.
