Tuesday night and Wednesday morning brought torrential rainfall to northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

Rainfall totals reported by National Weather Service observers in northeast Missouri Wednesday morning include 8.1 inches in Lewistown, 7.26 inches in Edina, 5.53 inches in Canton and 5.07 inches in Hannibal. Spotters on the Illinois side report 6.4 inches of rain in Mt. Sterling, 5.14 inches in Perry, Illinois and 3.2 inches in Quincy.

Other totals include:
Shelbina – 3.72”
South of Monroe City – 4.8”
Clarence Cannon Dam – 3.32”
South of Shelbina – 4.4”

Flash flooding was reported Wednesday morning in Hurdland and Edina and there was downed corn and broken tree limbs southwest of Payson.
