Officials are trying to figure out what caused the collapse of a large grain bin in LaGrange early Monday morning.

Emergency responders were called to the Bunge Corporation facility in LaGrange shortly after five Monday morning.

According to LaGrange Fire Chief Henry Gunsauls, while crews were working on a grain bin at Bunge’s, it suffered a catastrophic failure, splitting open and spilling thousands of bushels of grain from LaGrange city hall to the railroad.

Officials say the clean-up of the grain could take weeks.

No word on the cause of the failure. No one was hurt.

MODOT reports that Lewis County Route B and Business 61 in LaGrange are closed.
