The home-standing Terre Haute Rex spoiled the Hannibal Hoots' comeback Friday night with a 5-4 walk-off win.

Hannibal spotted the Rex a 4-0 lead as Terre Haute scored twice in the second and added single tallies in the fourth and fifth.

The Hoots' comeback began in the seventh. Left fielder Wyatt Whitman led off the inning with a single. He was forced at second on a ground ball off the bat of center fielder Tye Thixton. Then, with two outs, DH Dylan Dodd walked and first baseman Jordan Humphries launched a three-run homer, closing the gap to 4-3.

Hannibal tied it in the eighth on a walk to catcher Brady West and an RBI double by pinch hitter Connor Pasko.

But, Terre Haute won it in the ninth on a lead off walk, a one out single with a Rex runner thrown out trying to score, then a two out walk and an RBI single.

The Hoots fall to 3-7, while the Rex improve to 7-2, good for first place in the Prospect League West Division.

Hannibal takes its first day off of the season Saturday. They're back at Clemens Field Sunday for a 3:05 p.m. contest with the Danville Dans.
