A St. Louis man is in the Marion County Jail on drug related charges.

Hannibal Police officers with the Anti-Crime Enforcement Squad contacted 37 year old Alvin Mayfield of St. Louis Wednesday in the Pizza Hut parking lot.

Mayfield had an active warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Mayfield fled the scene, first in his car and then on foot. When he was taken into custody, he was allegedly found to be in possession of heroin and pills that he had tried to discard during the foot pursuit.

On Thursday, Mayfield was charged with resisting arrest and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Mayfield is in the Marion County Jail on $50,000 cash or surety bond.
