St. Louis authorities say a boy severely abused as an infant by his father in 2011 has died.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Karon Little died Tuesday at Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

Karon was 3 months old when he was vigorously shaken in his home by his father, Rufus Little.

Little told police he had been watching three children while his wife — Karon's mother — was at school. Little said he grew frustrated with the two older children and "violently" shook Karon until he stopped crying. Little later found the boy unresponsive in his crib.

Fifty-two-year-old Little later was convicted of second-degree assault and child abuse. He's serving a seven-year prison sentence.
