Springfield Man Arrested for Car Theft in Adams County

A Springfield man is in the Adams County Jail on a variety of charges.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle out of Springfield just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle as it entered Adams County, but it fled the area at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was found in Camp Point, and 30 year old Justin Cota was taken into custody.

Cota was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.

Cota also has outstanding warrants out of Peoria and Cass counties and faces probable vehicle theft charges in Sangamon County.
