A southeastern Missouri man is jailed without bond after being accused of fatally shooting a neighbor.

Fifty-one-year-old Paul Wayne Rudd of Wardell is charged in Pemiscot County with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Sheriff Tommy Greenwell says 46-year-old Russell Gray Jr of Wardell was shot in the back about 6 p.m. Oct. 29 outside his home. He later died at a Hayti hospital.

Circumstances of the shooting have not yet been released.

Rudd was arraigned Monday and was ordered to be represented by a public defender, who did not immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.

Rudd's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 12.
