A trip through the streets of Hannibal is part of the annual Shelter Insurance Missouri Show Me Games torch run. The event is part of the lead-up to the Show Me Games in Columbia during June and July. Anna Hargis is a spokesperson for the event. She says the torch runs were common in the early years of the games. The torch runs returned in recent years with stops this year in ten cities in all regions of the state from now through early May.

The  games run from June 12 through June 14, July 17 through July 19 and July 24 through July 26. The event includes over 25,000 participants from almost every county in Missouri. Participants range in age from small children to people in their 90s.
