The road to the 2016 Show-Me State Games begins in Hannibal Wednesday, April 13.

The Show-Me State Games and Shelter Insurance host a torch lighting ceremony and run beginning at noon Wednesday in Central Park.

The ceremony will include remarks from the games and Shelter Insurance, along with city officials, the lighting of the torch and a run through the downtown area.

According to a press release, the Show-Me State Games is an annual Olympic-style sports festival offering more than 40 sports for Missourians of all ages and ability levels, taking place June 10-12, July 22-24 and July 29-31 in Columbia.

After the stop in Hannibal, the torch run is staged in Kansas City and St. Joseph April 19, Springfield April 28, Joplin April 29, Cape Girardeau and St. Louis May 3, St. Charles May 4 and Jefferson City and Columbia July 22.
