UPDATE: Seven Year Old Quincy Girl Dead in Adams County Shooting Incident

Authorities in Adams County are investigating the shooting death of a seven year old girl Friday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Brian VonderHaar, deputies were called to Blessing Hospital at 1:10 p.m. Friday on a report that a child was being treated for an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies arrived to find that the child had died.

VonderHaar said the shooting incident happened about 12:30 p.m. at a residence near Beverly.

Adams County Coroner James Keller reports the shooting appears to have been accidental.

Keller identified the girl as Melina Torres of Quincy
