After a gorgeous weekend, there's a rainy week ahead for northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters say a slight chance of showers enters the area late Monday afternoon, with the best chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday night through Wednesday. The chance of precip starts to diminish Wednesday night through Thursday night.

Sunshine finally returns Friday and Saturday, but a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is back in the forecast Saturday night and Sunday.

High temperatures start in the low 80s Monday, drop to around 70 Tuesday and Wednesday, into the upper 60s Thursday and Friday, then back up to the mid to upper 70s for the weekend.

Lows will be mostly in the 50s, except for a predicted low in the upper 40s Friday night.
