There is the potential for copious amounts of rain this week in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms begins mid-afternoon Monday and continues through Tuesday.

The best chance of rain and the possibility of severe weather runs Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Forecasters are not ruling out the chance of large hail, damaging winds and maybe a tornado.

We get a break from the rain Thursday and Thursday night, but chance for heavy weather returns Friday, with a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain and storms Friday night through Sunday.

High temperatures for the week start out around 80 Monday and Tuesday, then start dropping to the low 70s Wednesday, the upper 60s Thursday through Saturday and the mid 60s Sunday.

Lows all also drop through the week, from around 60 Monday night to the upper 40s Thursday night.
