After a near-perfect weekend, a chance of rain moves through area, giving way to cooler temperatures this week in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters call for a slight chance of thunderstorms in the area from mid-afternoon Monday through the early morning hours of Tuesday. The best chance of rain comes Monday evening into early Tuesday.

After highs around 80 Monday, high temperatures will cool off to the low-60s Tuesday and Thursday, and in the mid to upper 50s through Sunday.

Lows for the week are expected to range from the mid 30s to low 40s.
