Railroad Crossing Fatality Near Madison, MO

A Madison, Missouri woman is dead after she drove a minivan into the path of a freight train early Thursday evening.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says 40-year-old Christy Mitcham failed to stop for an eastbound Norfolk Southern freight train at a crossing 2 and a half miles southwest of Madison at 6:45 p.m. Troopers say Mitcham was thrown from the vehicle.
