The City of Quincy recorded the first homicide of 2019 early Sunday morning with a shooting on the City's south side.  The Quincy Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation from an incident that occurred Sunday (1/6/19) morning in the 800 block of South 13th in Quincy.  The victim of the incident is Dennis Green (53 years of age) of Quincy.

According to a news release from Quincy Deputy Chief Doug VanderMaiden, Quincy police officers were sent to 800 South 13th around 3:45 am for a “shots fired” call.  Dennis Green was found on the front porch suffering from at least one gun wound and was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy will be conducted today in Bloomington, Illinois.

Quincy Police Detectives were called to the scene and processed the area.  According to the police report, there were people inside the residence when the shooting occurred, but no one else was injured.  Multiple shell casings were recovered from the scene.

At this time, the police department has no reason to believe there is any further danger to the public as this incident does not appear to be a random act.  The investigation is ongoing and the police department is asking anyone with information about this incident or anything leading up to this incident to please contact the Quincy Police Department directly or through the Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at (217) 228-4474 to submit your tip.
