President Grant is on his way to Quincy! Well sort of...

Calling all history fans this is your chance to meet and greet with renown President Ulysses S. Grant impersonator Dr. Curt Fields. It is an event called "US Grant: The Desperate Years" is happening on Thursday Feb. 27th at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home and doors open at 6 pm, with the speaking beginning at 7 pm.  On the events Facebook page they say...

"Dr.Curt Fields, a nationally known impersonator, will headline the activities as he speaks, as Grant, about the "desperate years" (1840-1861) in Grant's life. Fields reenacts Grant often for the National Park Service and appears throughout the country as our Civil War leader and 18th President. The talk will emphasize Grant’s life during the Mexican War, his years of military service on the West Coast, and his failures in business. Included also in this presentation will be a panorama of Grant and Civil War scenes. Accompanying Field's presentation will be a panorama of photos and paintings of Civil War scenes and personages shown in the round using O'Donnell-Cookson's new multi-media system. "The venue will be transformed into the time of Grant.""

This is the type of event that is right up my alley! A mix of history coming to life with actual photos and paintings from the time period itself. For reservations for this event reach check out the Facebook page by clicking here, or call 217-222-1835.
