A stolen vehicle report and an extended search resulted in the arrest of a Hannibal man Friday morning.

Hannibal Police received a tip on a stolen vehicle from Quincy spotted at Casey’s on McMasters Avenue just after 6 a.m. Friday.

When officers arrived at Casey’s, the suspect, 19 year old Steven Martin, backed the stolen car into the patrol car, drove forward striking another car and headed south on Highway 61.

Martin then turned onto Geronimo Avenue, striking another vehicle near the stop sign.

Martin left the vehicle and fled on foot. After a lengthy search, he was spotted on McMasters Avenue and finally taken into custody on Arapaho Street.

Martin was taken to HPD and then transferred to the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending the issuing of arrest warrants.

Later on Friday, warrants were issued for stealing a firearm, tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and stealing a motor vehicle.
Martin is in the Marion County Jail on $125,000 bond.

No citizens or officers were injured during the incident.
