Lewis County C-1 School District officials say a staff member is in the hospital with what may be meningitis.

A school message was sent Monday via School Messenger. The district is in close contact with the health department and will inform everyone should precautions be necessary. Symptoms include a headache… stiff neck and high fever. Anyone with those symptoms should seek medical attention. Symptoms can also include vomiting and inability to tolerate light and sound.
Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord known as the meninges. This inflammation is usually caused by an infection of the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
