Lewis County Without Land Line 911 Service Wednesday
Some Lewis County residents were unable to call 911 for a time Wednesday.
The Northeast Missouri Emergency Communications Center reported about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday there had been an equipment failure at a major telephone switching facility in Wentzville, which affected land line 911 service in Lewis County.
Repairs were made and full 911 service was restored about 1:30 p.m.
NECOMM reminds everyone that if you are unable to reach 911, it’s a good idea to keep your local law enforcement and dispatch non-emergency number stored in your cell phone.
In Lewis County, you can call the sheriff’s office at 573-767-5287 or non-emergency dispatch at 573-221-1244.
Also, in Lewis, Marion and Ralls counties, you can send a text message to 911 if you can’t make a regular phone call.
