Police say a pedestrian has died after he was struck by an elementary school bus in the Dutchtown neighborhood of St. Louis.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. Monday north of Marquette Park. Police say how the incident occurred is unclear, but a male who appeared to be in his early 20s was run over by a rear tire.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

According to a Rockwood School District spokeswoman, about 15 students from Stanton Elementary School were on the bus at the time. No one on the bus was injured.
