Missouri Highway Patrol troopers report one arrest for driving while intoxicated following use of a sobriety checkpoint last weekend in Lewis County.

The checkpoint was in place on US 61 south of Route B from 11 p-m Saturday until 3 a-m Sunday. In addition to the DWI arrest… troopers made two misdemeanor warrant arrests. Nine traffic citations and three warnings were issued. Five of the citations were for driver’s license violations. Three citations were issued for seat belt violations. Troopers say the checkpoints are designed to detect impaired drivers and other violations that contribute to traffic crashes. Patrol Captain James Wilt says additional enforcement programs are planned in coming months.
