(Hannibal)--Although temps have risen into the 40's this afternoon and the sun occasionally peeks through the overcast skies, don't let that lull you into complacency--

'Ol Man Winter still has a grip on the weather picture this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of the area, in effect from midnight tonight until 7 p.m. Sunday.

Rain is expected to begin late this afternoon and continue into Saturday evening, when it is predicted to mix and change over to snow.  6 to 8 inches of accumulation is possible before tapering off to flurries Sunday night.

Although some would like to arrest the groundhog who supposedly predicted an early spring, those of us who have been around for awhile know spring in the Midwest can throw almost anything our way.

If its any consolation, snow doesn't usually linger this time of year as the fickle temperatures soon trend upward.
