Authorities say a 20-year-old northern Illinois man likely died of exposure after he left a New Year's Eve party following an argument.

The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reports Devin G. Blakeley's body was found last Thursday near a frozen creek in rural DeKalb County.

Authorities say Blakeley was last seen leaving a New Year's Eve party around 2 a.m. Wednesday, but was never reported missing.

DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott says Blakeley was supposed to wait for a ride home from friends, but "wandered away." His friend thought Blakeley caught a ride with someone else.

His body was found by friends who went looking for him.

Waterman is about 11 miles south of DeKalb.
