A year long investigation into a Pike County, Illinois convenience store robbery leads to the arrest of a New Jersey man Thursday.

Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood reports the arrest of 49 year old Stephen Edward Mullins of Sewell, New Jersey on charges of armed robbery, aggravated robbery and theft over $500.

Mullins is alleged to have robbed the Jiffi Stop in Barry on October 16th of last year, taking cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

A combination of surveillance videos and DNA testing led to identifying Mullins and tracking him to Elbert County, Colorado.

Mullins has criminal charges pending in Kansas and Colorado, ranging from motor vehicle theft and burglary to violating an order of protection and DUI.

A local warrant for Mullins’ arrest was filed by Pike County State’s Attorney Zachary Boren.
