Hannibal Police say arrests for narcotics rose for a second consecutive year in 2015.

Felony arrests increased from 136 in 2014 to 223 in ’15—a 64 percent increase. Misdemeanor narcotics arrests also rose 20 percent from 2014. Police say the increase in narcotics arrests is largely due to the work of the department’s Anti-crime Enforcement Squad. Police Chief Lyndell Davis says one of the main objectives of ACES is to target drug distribution. Davis says they focus primarily on heroin… methamphetamine and cocaine but that when they develop actionable information concerning other drugs… those will be pursued as well.
