Murder Charges Filed Against Pittsfield Man

Murder charges were filed Thursday against a Pittsfield man in the beating death of another man last week.

Pike County State’s Attorney Zach Boren filed two counts of first degree murder against 23 year old William Poor.

Poor was arrested March 27th in connection with a fight at a Pittsfield residence. Poor is alleged to have beaten 26 year old Joshua Witherbee of Pittsfield. Witherbee was taken to Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, then transferred to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, where he died last Friday.

Poor had originally been charged with aggravated battery and obstruction of justice.

Poor is back in court April 16th. He is in the Pike County Jail on $300,000 bond.
