The Missouri State Highway Patrol releases its traffic numbers for the Fourth of July weekend.

Officials say four people died in traffic crashes over the holiday reporting period, while no one died in boating crashes or drowning mishaps.

None of those fatalities happened in northeast Missouri.

The Highway Patrol also reports 149 injuries, 121 DWI arrests and 107 drug arrests.

That compares to 14 traffic fatalities and 427 injuries on Missouri highways in 2015.

This year’s fatalities occurred in the Lee’s Summit, Weldon Spring, Springfield and St. Joseph areas.

The Fourth of July weekend reporting period ran from 6 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Monday.
