Missed it by that much. Some places in Missouri got so chilly overnight Saturday into Sunday morning that they nearly hit the freezing mark for the first time this season.

Several thoughts. First of all, your air conditioner got some relief last night thanks to chilly temperatures in Missouri. Second, several towns registered low temperatures that almost went below freezing. Finally, don't get used to it - yet.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis shared this graphic Sunday morning showing how close many Missouri places got to that infamous 32 degree mark.

You can see on their map that there were areas in both Missouri and Illinois that were in the mid-30's for low temperatures. But, before you get too comfortable and are tempted to get the sweaters and hoodies out of the drawer, summer isn't done with Missouri yet as the warmup will begin Monday and hit its zenith on Wednesday.

It's only a matter of time before the temperatures dive out of the 80's and remain chilly for true Fall weather. We're not there yet, but it's also now visible in the distance as September rolls on.
